Ashurst adds new arbitration partner to its ranks

Global firm Ashurst has moved to strengthen its infrastructure and construction disputes capabilities with the appointment of a new partner.

Bill Smith – who worked for Blake Dawson (now Ashurst) from 2005 to 2011 has returned to the firm, having most recently worked for Pinsent Masons, where he was a partner in that firm’s Dubai office since 2012.

Commenting on the re-hiring of Mr Smith, Ashurst head of global dispute resolution Simon Bromwich said: “We are continuing to see high levels of infrastructure and construction disputes globally and Bill’s appointment demonstrates our commitment to strengthening further our sector capability and our international arbitration offering.”

Mr Smith added: “Ashurst has a very strong client base in the infrastructure and construction sectors and exceptional arbitration credentials. According to the firm, Mr Smith has “extensive experience in litigation, expert determination, adjudication and alternative dispute resolution, and regularly advises clients on the restructuring of distressed infrastructure projects”.
