Bakers lures partner from NRF 

Baker McKenzie has appointed a new IPTech partner, who will be based in the firm’s Sydney practice.

Helen Macpherson has joined Bakers’ IPTech practice, specialising in intellectual property litigation and dispute resolution.

She brings over 15 years’ experience as an intellectual property specialist, holding extensive experience in advising clients on all types of intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, copyright, moral rights and confidential information. 

Ms Macpherson joins Bakers from Norton Rose Fulbright. This comes after Herbert Smith Freehills nabbed a financial services regulatory partner from NRF and Minters welcomed a leading M&A partner to its transaction solutions team.

Baker McKenzies national managing partner, Anthony Foley, stated: Helen comes to us with over 20 years’ experience, having built a market-leading reputation as a high-stakes IP litigator, with a particular focus on large-scale patent litigation. She is a welcome addition to our market-leading team in Sydney.”

Ms Macpherson’s practice focuses on a range of industries including the pharmaceutical, life sciences, telecommunications, consumer goods, manufacturing, finance, media and advertising industries. 

Furthermore, she has a particular focus on patent litigation in the pharmaceutical and life sciences industries, and has been the lead litigator in a number of prominent Australian pharmaceutical patent cases.

According to Bakers, Ms Macpherson works across a number of industry sectors, advising clients including: healthcare in respect to pharmaceuticals, life sciences and medical devices; consumer goods and retail; agribusiness; and technology, media and telecommunications.
