Jillian Gardner has been hired by Greenwoods & Herbert Smith Freehills for its Sydney office, bringing with her 20 years of “market-leading experience” to the firm in both infrastructure and broader funds management.

She will lead the firm’s national projects and infrastructure group.

Speaking about the hire, Greenwoods managing partner Manuel Makas said the firm was “very pleased” to welcome Ms Gardner.

“In addition to her strong tax technical background, she also brings significant commercial experience and deep industry relationships; I am confident that this will prove invaluable to both our clients and people,” he said.

Ms Gardner said: “I am looking forward to joining Greenwoods, the firm is well regarded as a tax specialist and I’m excited to lead the Projects & Infrastructure group and explore new opportunities with the firm.”

She will join the firm in March of next year, coming across from MIRA Group at Macquarie, where she currently serves as a division director responsible for establishing and leading the tax aspects of a number of high-profile infrastructure funds both in Australia and overseas.
