Mr Kenton will be based in EY’s Sydney office as part of his new role, which will see him responsible for expanding and enhancing the firm’s legal function consulting and legal managed services capabilities across both Asia Pacific and global markets.
He brings over 20 years’ experience to the role, having supported organisations across the UK, US and Australia on their transformation journeys by identifying the relevant resourcing models, appropriate processes/workflows and the right mix of technology, to support efficiency and success.
“It is great to have Jon join our team. He is very well known and highly regarded in the Australian legal market,” said Kirsty Keating, EY Oceania law leader.
“We have over 1,100 legal professionals in our consulting and managed services teams working collaboratively with our EY Law teams in Oceania, delivering on our strategy to provide legal services to our EY clients.”
Commenting further, John Knox, EY global and Asia-Pacific legal operations leader, added: “We are absolutely thrilled to have Jon joining our team. He brings a wealth of industry experience and insights that will be incredibly helpful as we scale our Legal Function Consulting and Legal Managed Services both here in Asia-Pacific and across the globe.”
Mr Kenton said he was eager to dive head first into the new role.
“The legal services market is undergoing a revolution: how we manage the business is changing rapidly before our eyes. The role of the General Counsel has never been more complex and inhouse legal teams are under pressure,” he said.
“My passion is to support GC’s and legal teams to define their strategy and legal function, to develop meaningful solutions to complex problems and support them through small changes all the way through to fundamental shifts in the way they operate.
“I’ve joined EY because they are collaborative and well connected across the globe. The EY organization understands the importance of combining lawyers and managed services together to provide enterprise wide solutions for clients.”
