Global law firm Herbert Smith Freehills has made numerous calls on salaries moving forward, including opting to remunerate all staff with an extra 5 per cent of their respective salaries.
HSF is “performing well” so far this year, firm chief executive Justin D'Agostino (pictured) said – and, accordingly, it is looking to reward its staff.
Mr D'Agostino said he was “delighted” that everyone at the firm will be able to share in its pleasing performance in recent times.
“This is an acknowledgement of their dedication and hard work, in the face of the tremendous disruption and challenges experienced in the last year,” he proclaimed.
The one-off payment will be made, he noted, in addition to HSF’s usual 2021 bonus round.
Moreover, the firm has lifted its freeze on salary rises in certain jurisdictions – including Australia – so as to recognise promotions for lawyers and business services professionals, and also ensure progression for its lawyers.
Revised salaries, HSF said, have been effective from 1 January 2021.
Looking ahead, the firm noted it will also be conducting salary reviews in all of its markets, as part of the usual cycle in 2021.
