1. Where does LawCPD see itself in the Australian market at this point in time?

Since we first launched in 2008, we’ve been leading the way when it comes to online and interactive legal CPD. Where other education providers might operate across a larger set of delivery formats, our focus on interactive online learning has enabled us to build unique expertise that sets us apart.

Innovation is at the heart of everything we do, so it’s been exciting to continuously improve our platform to respond to lawyers’ changing needs and expectations regarding legal education. The past few years have been especially interesting because we were in a position to deliver the level of education that lawyers were looking for – and the growing number of legal professionals switching to our platform has been incredibly encouraging.

2. What has been the company’s growth trajectory in recent years, particularly against the backdrop of the global pandemic?

Because we are an online-only course provider, we were particularly well equipped to respond to the sudden increase in the demand for remote learning solutions. Online learning has been a growth industry for over a decade, so in a way, it’s been a long time coming. However, it has been extremely rewarding to see that the work we’ve put into our platform and courses enabled us to effectively adapt to the circumstances of the pandemic to support lawyers’ learning.

The COVID crisis was accompanied by multiple changes from different regulatory bodies: extensions of CPD deadlines, changes in compliance rules, and the introduction of new regulatory systems. We could see that trying to keep up with these changes – especially amid everything else that was going on – was pretty challenging and sometimes overwhelming for some lawyers. We’ve built our operations to be agile, which means we could focus on communicating clearly about these developments to be helpful to lawyers.

3. What are the goals for LawCPD in 2022 and beyond, and how do you plan to achieve those?

Our goal has always been to deliver the best learning experience for lawyers. We genuinely believe in the power of ongoing learning in building a strong profession and, more specifically, in helping individual lawyers feel empowered to fulfil their role in society.

We’ve just released a brand new learning platform that goes well beyond what any other company has ever delivered in this space. It’s the result of a long planning and research process, and we feel like we now have strong foundations in place to keep growing. We’re looking forward to building on this, refining the platform, and delivering new features based on direct feedback from lawyers using the platform.

We’re also looking forward to welcoming new experts as collaborators and are always experimenting with new course format ideas, but you’ll have to wait to see more of that!

4. What are the major opportunities on the horizon for LawCPD, and how do you plan to grasp those?

Online learning is not new, but lawyers are now truly embracing it. And it’s not just individual lawyers; larger firms also see the value in engaging LawCPD because of the flexibility of our solution and the autonomy it provides to their lawyers to develop their own career plan.

We can now license our courses directly to firms and seamlessly integrate them into their existing learning management systems (LMS). We’ve run a few pilots over the past 12 months, and we are now ready to build on our experience and collaborate with more firms. It’s a new way for LawCPD to make our course portfolio available to even more lawyers, and we are looking forward to exploring this further.

5. What benefits will lawyers glean from learning via LawCPD?

First and foremost, they will get access to very high-quality learning materials. Our content creation is rigorous. We hand-pick our collaborators and put a lot of time and effort into designing the courses specifically for our self-paced interactive format. Lawyers can feel confident that, when they choose a course from LawCPD, it has been carefully developed to ensure the best learning experience.

As mentioned earlier, we just released our new platform with a series of new and exciting functionalities. We’ve designed this platform’s functionalities purposefully by considering the whole compliance process: from facilitating the course selection process to offering new learning interactive features and easing the compliance reporting process.

Our ultimate goal is to offer Australian lawyers a very flexible, cost-effective and convenient solution while upholding the highest standards of educational quality.

6. What excites you about LawCPD’s future?

We have a lot of exciting new ideas and collaborations to explore this year, and the most challenging part will be prioritising them! The online education space is limitless, and we look forward to pushing the boundaries even further for the benefit of Australian lawyers.
