Andrew McCormack and Chris Campbell have both joined Ashurst, in a move that will expand the firm’s focus on the energy and resources and infrastructure sectors. The news follows the firm’s addition of 12 Australians to its global partnership ranks last month.

Mr McCormack will be in the Brisbane office and brings 17 years of experience. His practice covers transport, infrastructure, resources and property development, with both government and private sector clients. He was a partner at Corrs for nine years.

Mr Campbell, based in Perth, has been a partner at Corrs since July 2020. His practice covers energy and resources, infrastructure and property development, including major transport and infrastructure projects, public-private partnership funding arrangements, commercial, residential and retail developments, urban regeneration and mining, and oil and gas projects.

Speaking about the appointments, Ashurst transport and infrastructure practice group head in APAC Angus Foley said that the firm is “thrilled” to welcome the pair.

“Their arrival is a sign of Ashurst’s commitment to consolidating the strength of our already market-leading transport and infrastructure group,” he said.

Mr McCormack said: “I am excited to join the Ashurst partnership in the firm’s renowned transport and infrastructure group. There are considerable opportunities for growth in major transport projects in Queensland, including those linked to the forthcoming 2032 Olympic Games.

“Ashurst’s strong market position in Australia and global platform will provide an exceptional basis from which to expand the practice.”

And Mr Campbell added: “I am delighted to join Ashurst at a time of renewal and growth in the firm’s Perth office. Ashurst’s global reach and strong client base across the energy and resources sectors complements my existing practice and provides opportunities to drive growth by delivering on the full suite of needs for clients.”
