Marcus Best (pictured) has joined Piper Alderman, bringing over three decades of experience in corporate and equity capital markets matters, advising many Australian and international clients in IPOs, ASX listings and capital raisings, takeovers, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and project exploration and development.

He is a member of the Australia-China Business Council and the Australia-India Chamber of Commerce and has — over the course of his career — acted for and advised in high-value international transactions, including the recent strategic acquisition by China’s Huayou Cobalt Co of the Arcadia Lithium Mine Project from ASX-listed Prospect Resources; the China Nuclear Power Corporation takeover acquisition of Extract Resources’ $2 billion Husab Uranium Project and the $2 billion takeover acquisition of Australian Gas Networks (formerly Envestra).

Speaking about his decision to join Piper Alderman, Mr Best said: “I am excited to join Piper Alderman, a dynamic, collaborative and innovative firm that complements my Australian and international practice.

“I look forward to participating in the continued growth and success of our clients’ businesses, both in Australia and overseas.”

Piper Alderman managing partner Tony Britten-Jones added: “Marcus is a leading corporate lawyer, and his experience in the Asian market complements our national team and international group.

“We are excited to welcome Marcus to our Melbourne partnership, following our other recent Melbourne partner appointments.”
