Intermodal Terminal Company advised on $400m project

Aware Super-owned investment platform Intermodal Terminal Company (ITC) has been advised on its plans to build and operate a $400 million intermodal terminal in Somerton, Melbourne.

Firm: Ashurst (Intermodal Terminal Company)

Deal: Ashurst advised Intermodal Terminal Company, an investment platform targeting the acquisition, construction and operation of an independent network of intermodal terminals, on its plans to build and operate a $400 million intermodal terminal in Somerton, which is set to be completed in 2025 and will be Australia’s largest intermodal terminal.

Key players: The Ashurst team was led by partner Alex Guy, who was supported by partners Nigel Deed and Arthur Chong, counsel Rebecca Hall and senior associate Eloise Moore.

Deal significance: Speaking about the matter, Mr Guy said: “We are delighted to have worked with the ITC and Aware Super teams to help deliver this exciting project.

“The project is expected to take 500,000 truck trips off Melbourne’s roads, saving 451 million litres of fuel and reducing carbon emissions by 189,000 tonnes per year.”
