Michael Jensen and Stephanie Tan have been elevated to special counsel at Lavan. The promotions, the firm said in a statement, are “well-earned” and are a “true reflection of [the pair’s] market-leading legal expertise”.

Lavan has 27 partners and close to 200 staff.

Mr Jensen, who has been promoted in the firm’s employment, safety and education team, has “considerable expertise”, Lavan said, in employment and workplace and safety-related matters and has been “highly valued and respected”.

Ms Tan has been elevated in the firm’s litigation and dispute resolution team, and she advises clients on all areas of litigation law and has significant experience with general commercial disputes, including in the areas of corporate law, insolvency, construction, insurance and local government.

The promotions follow the appointment of partners Leith Ayres and Jorja Brady in recent times, as reported by Lawyers Weekly here and here.

In the last six months, the firm has also welcomed senior associate Abhinav Sharma, associates Alistair Graham, Kate Daniels, and Calvin Warries, and Hal Jenkins as Lavan’s chief information officer.

Speaking about the promotions and appointments, Lavan managing partner Dean Hely said: “On behalf of the partners and everyone at Lavan, I am delighted to congratulate these outstanding lawyers and senior executives on their promotions and appointments.

“Lavan is extremely fortunate to have welcomed so many accomplished professionals to the firm in the last six months, and I am excited for what the future holds for the firm as we strive to make a real difference together.”
