Ms Mitchell is, the firm said in a statement, a “highly experienced legal adviser” with experience in major commercial transactions and major projects, contract development, government acquisitions, entity sales and machinery-of-government changes, administrative law and decision making, legislative reform, regulatory investigations, powers, and procedures, who is “passionate about shaping strong client outcomes to organisational, policy and regulatory issues by providing great legal advice and sharp legal strategy in complex, information-rich, fast-moving environments”.
The news follows the firm’s promotion of 47 lawyers to more senior roles in early June.
Speaking about the appointment, Maddocks chief executive David Newman said: “Alanna’s appointment is testament to the continued strength of Maddocks’ government practice.
“To attract a partner of Alanna’s calibre will only add to the strength of our practice and the continued strong relationship we have with the Victorian state government. We are excited by Alanna’s future at Maddocks for many years to come.”
The firm’s Victorian state government sector head, Simone Holding, added: “Alanna will be instrumental in building our offering across strategic areas of law for the Victorian government, and Maddocks’ continued focus on this important sector.
“She will join the team which is committed to ensuring we continue to provide strong service and value to all of the departments and agencies for which we act.”
And Ms Mitchell noted: “Maddocks is a firm that is admired by many for its dedication to the government sector. With strength in its practices which have serviced the government for over 100 years, as well as its market-leading legal process management systems and a strong focus on client service, it is a firm I am excited to be a part of.”
