Piper Alderman has appointed Teodor Lomaca (pictured) as a partner to bolster its construction law practice in Sydney.

The firm has stated that he has attained a decade of experience “advising on project delivery strategies, drafting and negotiating both upstream and downstream agreements, conducting detailed risk analysis and advising on effective contract administration”.

Lomaca has also acted for a wide range of participants in the development and construction industry on infrastructure, energy, commercial and residential projects.

With over 10 years of experience in the projects and construction industry, he has held various titles at different firms, most recently as a special counsel at HWL Ebsworth.

These also include roles as a lawyer at Clayton Utz and Colin Biggers & Paisley, associate and senior associate at Clyde & Co, and senior lawyer and special counsel at Gilbert + Tobin.

The news follows the promotion of 16 professionals to more senior positions at Piper Alderman at the end of December, the addition of a Perth-based partner at the end of November, the addition of two partners and one senior associate from EY in July, the appointment of a property partner from Holding Redlich in the same month and the hiring of a partner for the projects, infrastructure and construction team at the end of June.

Piper Alderman managing partner Tony Britten-Jones expressed his excitement about the new appointment.

“Our projects, infrastructure and construction practice is a key strength of the firm. Teo’s experience and dedication to client service align perfectly with our firm’s values and strategic objectives,” he said.

“His reputation as a distinguished lawyer in the field, combined with his expertise in construction law, procurement strategy, and project delivery, is a great strength for our national practice. We look forward to Teodor’s contributions and continued success at Piper Alderman.”

Martin Lovell, a partner for the firm and the head of the projects, infrastructure and construction team, said that Lomaca’s appointment showcases Piper Alderman’s desire to grow its leadership team.

“Teodor’s appointment brings further depth and front-end expertise to our Sydney team and reflects the continued growth in our national practice and our leading roles on major infrastructure, energy and development projects around Australia,” Lovell said.

Lomaca said he is eager to assist in the firm’s expansion of its projects and construction area.

“I am excited to join Piper Alderman, a firm that is widely recognised in the market for providing excellent service to its clients and places a strong emphasis on its culture,” he said.

“I am thrilled by the opportunity to contribute to the firm’s continued growth, particularly in the projects, infrastructure and construction space.”
