Slater & Gordon promotes 73

National plaintiff firm Slater & Gordon has announced the promotion of 73 lawyers and support staff to more senior positions across 11 practice areas in its offices nationwide.

Slater & Gordon has promoted 73 individuals across its legal and shared services teams, including eight to senior leadership roles within the firm.

The promotions also include 10 lawyers elevated to legal counsel, nine to senior associate, 18 to associate, and 23 senior and legal assistants.

Among the senior appointments, Cindy Bors has been named practice group leader in class actions. Jo Burns, Julia Cotton, and Nimna Rupasinghe have been promoted to senior practice leader in work and road claims, while Laurie Plunkett has assumed the role of senior legal counsel.

Three lawyers have been promoted to practice leader: Sean Sweeney (asbestos and dust diseases), Elizabeth Edgar and Larissa Atkinson (both in work and road claims).

The firm’s new legal counsel: David Barda (class actions), Jannie Nguyen (legal operations), Jess Philips (work and road claims), Joel Redman (work and road claims), Laine Ashforth-McDonald (asbestos and dust disease), Meghan Sheehan (work and road claims), Ruzica Condelli (work and road claims), Sarah Elseidy (work and road claims), Sarah Nicholson (work and road claims), and Tom Mithieux (work and road claims).

The new senior associates include Cassandre Hubert (medical law), Deema Dermelkonian (abuse law), Emma Bussoletti (work and road claims), Hannah Murray (asbestos and dust disease), Kate Taylor (class actions), Laura Nigro (class actions), Marc Temminghoff (workers compensation), Rachael Richie (medical law), and Ruby Haynes (class actions).

The firms’ new associates: Aliessa Newing (public liability), Aveen Akrawy (work and road claims), Claire Humphries (Comcare), Deanna Velakoulis (class actions), Elizabeth Nguyen (work and road claims), Emily Davies (work and road claims), Fleur Hawes (superannuation and disability insurance), Georgie Flood (class actions), Kellie Wright (public liability), Kurt Cauchi (work and road claims), Kyra Megele (superannuation and disability insurance), Michael Diamandis (public liability), Cano Ergun (work and road claims), Neha Pratap (public liability), Netty Hunter (abuse law), Natasha Birimac (class actions), Rebecca Russell (work and road claims), and Shweta Dey (work and road claims).

In addition to the legal promotions, several operational and support staff were recognised for their valuable contributions to the firm.

Erin Germantis has been promoted to professional standards lawyer, Ellen Sparks to national operations manager, Lauren Batey to support team leader, Lucy Tucker to operations adviser, and Hilary Briggs to managing clerk.

The new senior legal assistants are Anastasia Sweeney, Tara Lancaster, Cassandra Tudorov, and Rachel Martin.

Those promoted to legal assistant include Gemma Warburton, Hayden Grant, Aiesha D’Lima, Dani Rathugamage, Laila McCristal, Polin Kanon, Sarah McIntosh, Vanessa Vasquez, Kat Baker, Melanie La, Vivienne Hatzigiakoumis, Rosie Fell, Britney Cribbin, Isabelle Schavoni, Varsha Srikumar, Miranda Chrismas, Shirley Vu, Tristan Stelzer, and Asma Mohamed.

Slater & Gordon CEO Dina Tutungi said the latest round of promotions reflects the firm’s deep commitment to its clients and the dedication shown by its lawyers and support staff to their profession.
