National law firm HWL Ebsworth has appointed six new partners and elevated 96 staff members across the firm’s national network.
HWL Ebsworth has named six new partners, 15 new special counsel, 20 new senior associates, 52 associates, and nine new support staff and business services team members.
In a statement, the national law firm said each promotion recognises the “meaningful contribution” the individuals have made to the firm’s clients, colleagues, and the broader organisation.
The newly appointed partners include Angela Armstrong (construction and infrastructure, Sydney), Lisa Gooneratne (insurance, Canberra), Neil Perl (litigation, Melbourne), Josephine Pignataro (corporate and commercial, Sydney), Michael Robinson (property, Sydney), and Emily Stower (insurance – statutory classes, Brisbane).
The firm now comprises 1,765 staff nationally, including 276 partners, 1,098 other legal professionals, and 391 support staff across nine offices: Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Darwin, Melbourne, Hobart, Norwest (Northwest Sydney), Perth, and Sydney.
Commenting on the latest promotions, CEO Kris Hopkins congratulated the team and reinforced HWL Ebsworth’s ongoing commitment to fostering talent and supporting career progression.

This news follows the national law firms’ promotion of 43 lawyers to more senior roles, including 12 to special counsel, 13 to senior associate, and 18 to associate, at the end of 2024.
