Principal lawyer Grant Walker has joined Macpherson Kelley’s litigation and dispute resolution team in its Melbourne office.

National managing principal Grant Guenther praised Walker’s reputation as a leading litigator and his “unique ability” to pair his commercial and legal expertise with a client-focused approach.

“His skill set, client profile and approach to service correspond with our values and approach perfectly,” Guenther said.

“I’m confident his strategic thinking and the collaborative way he approaches his work will make a positive impact on the firm.”

Walker, who has worked on high-profile and complex disputes, has specific expertise in banking and finance, director and shareholder disputes, property disputes, and fraud and asset recovery.

His experience in debt recovery and insolvency will assist Macpherson Kelley’s team in navigating demand, with the number of companies entering insolvency rising sharply in the last few years.

Commenting on the move, Walker said he was attracted to the firm’s no-nonsense, people-first approach.

“Great service isn’t difficult to achieve when your values are aligned in the right way,” Walker said.

“It’s evident that Macpherson Kelley has done the work to understand what’s important – straight talking, good thinking and a deep understanding of their clients and their business.”

Macpherson Kelley has also promoted five lawyers, including Tim Puget to special counsel in the litigation team and Aiden McKee to senior associate in the commercial team.

Georgia Buck from the family law practice, Nivedita Jaggi in the commercial team, and Dimity Payten from litigation have been promoted to associate.
