The announcement is a significant one for the legal profession, with Miller’s session timed to occur just weeks after the final Tranche 2 rules and core guidance are expected to be released.

“AUSTRAC recognises the significant change Tranche 2 reforms will bring for the legal, accounting and real estate sectors”, Miller said. “AUSTRAC encourages businesses in these sectors to build their knowledge of money laundering, what it could look like in their business and the important role businesses will play in reducing harm to the Australian community. I’m looking forward to opening the conference and supporting industry efforts to strengthen Australia’s defences against financial crime through meaningful money laundering controls.”

Her session will offer delegates a direct line of sight into the regulator’s expectations as the 2026 enforcement deadline looms.

“Having Katie address our delegates at this precise moment is a game changer,” said Louisa Thomas, program director for AML Edge. “It provides an unparalleled opportunity for firms to get foundational clarity on the new frameworks and what ‘reasonable steps’ will look like in practice.”

Miller joined by cross-sector AML experts

Miller will be joined by a formidable roster of financial crime trailblazers and sector-specific leaders. The program is designed to provide practical, “how-to” implementation strategies for Tranche 2 entities.

Other key speakers include:

  • Bobbie Wan, head of regulatory policy and strategy, The Law Society of NSW
  • Jamie Lynch, head of AML, Gilbert + Tobin
  • Jeremy Moller, senior advisor – risk advisory, Norton Rose Fulbright
  • Timothy Goodrick, director, forensic, KPMG
  • Richard Lee, executive director, financial crime, KordaMentha (formerly AUSTRAC)
  • Nick Boudrie, co-founder and CEO, LAB Group
  • Grace Mason, partner, financial crime, KordaMentha
  • Dr Jamie Ferrill, senior lecturer in financial crime, Charles Sturt University
  • Sophie Watson, managing consultant, risk, compliance and financial crime, TOM People

The first edition of AML Edge sold out in March, and capacity for the second edition is strictly limited to 150 delegates to foster high-value networking.

Early Bird tickets are now on sale, offering a $400 savings on the standard ticket price. For more information on the agenda and speakers and to register, visit AMLEdge.com.au.
