National law firm Russell Kennedy has bolstered its leadership ranks, appointing a new principal.
Russell Kennedy has appointed experienced litigator Deren Hassan as a principal in its Sydney office, expanding the firm’s commercial litigation and dispute resolution capabilities.
With more than 28 years of experience, Hassan has built a career advising clients on complex and high-value disputes across multiple jurisdictions.
In a statement, the national law firm explained how his practice spans a broad range of sectors, including property, financial services, healthcare, retail, manufacturing, professional services, and franchising.
In addition to his litigation work, Hassan brings substantial expertise in mediation and alternative dispute resolution, often working with clients to manage risk and resolve matters outside of court.
Russell Kennedy managing director Paul Gleeson said Hassan’s appointment marked a key development in the firm’s Sydney growth strategy and strengthened its dispute resolution offering.
“We are thrilled to welcome Deren to the firm. His appointment is an important step in further strengthening our commercial litigation capabilities in Sydney and the firm’s broader growth strategy,” Gleeson said.
Dispute resolution practice group leader Marika Hubble-Marriott noted that Hassan’s cross-sector experience and skill in handling high-risk matters would complement the firm’s existing services and meet growing client demand for strategic representation in disputes.
“Deren’s arrival enhances our dispute resolution offering in Sydney. His experience across a range of industries and demonstrated expertise in litigation and alternative dispute resolution complement our valued service offering to clients seeking strong, strategic representation in high-risk matters,” Hubble-Marriott said.
