Lawyers Weekly is pleased to announce the launch of this year’s Women in Law Forum.
Now in its fourth year, the annual Women in Law Forum returns to champion positive change for women in law and beyond.
Hosted with support from principal partner Mary Technology, the blockbuster event lands at a pivotal time for the legal profession.
While Australia accelerates towards gender equality with the newly legislated Setting Gender Equality Targets Act, progress in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) is stalling in other jurisdictions.
Meanwhile, emerging technologies are reshaping how we work and communicate, with growing impacts on autonomy, accountability, and equity in law.
This year’s Women in Law Forum will unpack the shifting landscape to equip attendees with the tools and strategies needed to drive progress, push boundaries, and promote equality among women in the legal profession.
The forum will take place on Thursday, 27 November, at the Crown Melbourne. Click here to buy tickets.
Throughout the event, leading women will share personal experiences and anecdotes, alongside practical tips on how to pave the way for a more inclusive and equitable legal future.
The jam-packed agenda will unpack how women are reforming business models and redefining success, examine the role of technology in equality, and address homogenous attitudes towards women in law.
Speakers will also discuss how the re-evaluation of diversity and inclusion frameworks may threaten equity, and outline the practical implications of limitations in the Setting Gender Equality Targets Act.
The sessions include:
Rewriting the rules: What’s actually working for women in law
Gender targets, pay gaps and performance: Will the new act deliver?
Between reform and retrenchment: Where does DEI stand now?
Technology as an equaliser: How automation can close the gap
The intersectional experience: Addressing homogenous attitudes towards women in law
Designing better legal work: Efficiency, equity, and experience
Commenting on the forum, principal partner Mary Technology’s co-founder, Rowan McNamee, said: “We are honoured at Mary Technology to be the principal partner of the Women in Law Forum.
“This partnership is especially meaningful to us, as our company is named after my aunt, Mary McNamee, who is an exceptional family law barrister based down in Melbourne.
“It’s the perfect way to celebrate her and the countless women who make extraordinary contributions to the legal profession every day. We are privileged to support such an important and brilliant event.”
The event is a crucial platform for distinguished legal professionals, fierce advocates, and passionate activists to inspire women in law while confronting the unresolved inequities that linger in professional services.
Don’t miss the opportunity to connect with a dynamic group of like-minded professionals, leading public figures, and social advocates at this year’s event.
