BigLaw firm Piper Alderman has welcomed Marisa Orr to its partnership, who joined its national corporate team in Perth last Monday (8 September).
Orr has over 16 years of experience in equity capital markets, M&A, takeovers, governance, and regulatory matters, as well as background advising ASX-listed companies, “with a focus on equity capital markets (including IPOs and secondary raisings) and private and public mergers and acquisitions (including takeovers and schemes of arrangement), having acted on a broad range of domestic and cross-border transactions”, the firm told Lawyers Weekly.
In a statement, Orr said: “I’m excited to step into Piper Alderman’s corporate team. This move provides a strong platform to support ASX-listed clients in navigating complex transactions and regulatory headwinds with confidence and agility – backed by the strength of our national network.”
She will work alongside partner Paul Sartori in Perth, along with the wider corporate team nationally.
Her addition to the team comes amid the firm’s plans to bolster its governance offering, particularly in relation to ASX-listed companies and to “expand the corporate team across our six national offices, following the recent addition of three new corporate partners in the Sydney office, taking the team to 21 partners nationally”, it said.
“Marisa’s appointment marks an important step in the firm’s strategy to expand our corporate practice’s distinctive service offering and expertise, while further strengthening our already highly regarded national corporate team,” managing partner Tony Britten-Jones said.
The firm said: “Marisa also has a strong governance profile, with experience in consultation submissions to the ASX and ASIC, supporting clients through corporate reporting cycles, and advising on whistleblower matters.
“Her secondments with ASX-listed resources companies in Perth also provided deeper insight into the sector’s operational drivers and key priorities.”
This news follows the firm’s promotion of 17 in June and its appointment of seven partners in March.
“I’m pleased to welcome Marisa to the team. Her extensive experience and expertise in equity capital markets, regulated and unregulated M&A and C-suite advisory and governance matters will be a valuable addition to our practice,” Sartori said.
“I look forward to working with Marisa as we continue to strengthen our offering and grow our presence in the Perth market.”
