Partner Chuong Nguyen and special counsel Ellen Adianto have joined Thomson Geer, based in its Melbourne office.

Nguyen has extensive experience acting for lenders and borrowers across complex domestic and cross-border financing transactions.

His practice spans banking and lending, with a focus on Asian banks supporting clients investing in Australia, as well as representing borrowers in property development and corporate finance.

Nguyen has practised in London, Tokyo, and Shanghai, where he advised on high-profile financings, acquisitions and restructurings for major banks, corporates and multilateral institutions.

Chief executive partner Andrew Tembel said Thomson Geer was pleased to welcome Nguyen to the firm.

“Chuong’s strong relationship with leading Asian banks will help us expand our finance offering into new markets, while his borrower-side practice is a natural fit with our existing property development client base in Melbourne,” Tembel said.

Adianto has over a decade of domestic and international experience advising both financiers and borrowers on a range of financing transactions, including property and construction finance, leveraged and acquisition finance, fund finance, and corporate lending.

Tembel said both Nguyen and Adianto’s appointments “will strengthen and diversify our offering for clients”.

“We see real opportunity in strengthening our banking and finance capabilities, particularly in the Melbourne market.

“With Chuong and Ellen on board, we are well-positioned to build on our existing client base, deepen our expertise, and continue to secure a market-leading position in property and project finance,” he said.
