Global law firm Clyde & Co has added a partner from national rival Gilchrist Connell, where she held the principal role for over two years.
Clyde & Co has strengthened its partnership by welcoming back Yvonne Lam (pictured), who most recently served as principal and head of corporate insurance and insurtech at national law firm Gilchrist Connell.
Lam previously spent more than a decade with the global law firm, rising through the ranks from associate to senior associate and eventually special counsel, where she specialised in corporate and regulatory matters across Australia.
In a statement, the firm said Lam’s return will bolster Clyde & Co’s corporate insurance offering across the Asia-Pacific, spanning transactional, regulatory, and commercial advisory work for clients operating in both Australia and Singapore.
She brings extensive experience advising insurers, reinsurers, underwriting agents, insurance brokers, and emerging insurtech and fintech ventures.
Her work has included involvement in significant Australian insurance industry matters, including advising during the financial services royal commission hearings, as well as supporting corporate restructures, mergers, and acquisitions with a regulatory dimension.
Rebecca Kelly, managing partner of Clyde & Co’s Brisbane office, said Lam’s return reinforces the firm’s commitment to corporate insurance and regulatory excellence, enhancing its ability to support clients in an increasingly complex corporate environment.
“I’m delighted to welcome Yvonne back to the firm. Her return marks an exciting step for the firm in the continued growth of our corporate insurance and regulatory practice across Australia and the broader Asia-Pacific region,” Kelly said.
“With our enhanced capabilities, we are strongly positioned to support our clients in managing risk, responding to regulatory change, and navigating the complexities of today’s corporate landscape. Our clients rely on us for clear, commercially focused advice, and this appointment ensures we continue to deliver with confidence and clarity.”
This news comes after the firm hired a new partner for its insurance practice in May, the appointment of seven special counsel earlier this month, as well as the addition of award-winning boutique principal Simone Herbert-Lowe as a partner in the firm’s cyber practice last month.
