Andrew Gill and Lee Carroll will bring their extensive experience in managing high-end disputes to Johnson Winter Slattery’s (JWS) team, which is currently involved in a number of significant matters.

Managing partner Jeremy Davis said the dispute resolutions team handles “some of the largest corporate disputes in Australia”.

“Andrew and Lee’s extensive experience will enhance JWS’ reputation as a ‘go to’ firm for challenging disputes that require creative minds to achieve optimal commercial outcomes,” Davis said.

Gill, based in Canberra, has a strong focus on M&A and assisting offshore investors navigate complex regulatory and trade issues, particularly in the defence and technology sectors.

The new JWS partner also has substantial experience in running disputes in agriculture, environment, defence and technology.

On his appointment, Gill said he was drawn to JWS’ “strong disputes reputation and growing presence in the nation’s capital”.

“The opportunity will allow me to focus on delivering the best outcome for my clients with the support of some of the best litigators in the country,” Gill said.

Melbourne-based Carroll has deepened the firm’s disputes and domestic and international arbitration capability, as well as addressed an increasing demand for arbitration from clients within the energy and resources and infrastructure sectors.

Carroll will advise investors and sovereign state parties on investments under bilateral and multilateral treaties as the head of the firm’s arbitration group.

“JWS is renowned for its depth of expertise for handling complex disputes,” Carroll said.

“I am excited to contribute my own experience and lead the firm’s arbitration group.”
