Global law firm Ashurst has strengthened its ranks, appointing a senior infrastructure specialist with more than 25 years of experience to guide its infrastructure and energy transition offering.
Luke Houghton (pictured) has joined Ashurst to lead its infrastructure and energy transition offering within the global law firm’s expanding consulting arm, Ashurst Risk Advisory.
Before joining the global law firm, Houghton spent more than 14 years at big four consultancy Deloitte, where he most recently served as its global infrastructure leader for four years.
In a statement, the global firm stated that the appointment underscores its commitment to equipping clients with specialist insight and practical solutions to navigate the evolving infrastructure and energy transition landscape, both in Australia and internationally.
Bringing over 25 years of experience, Houghton has advised on major infrastructure and energy projects across Australia and around the world, providing guidance to public and private sector clients on high-stakes projects in New Zealand, the US, and the Middle East.
Throughout his career, Houghton has delivered complex strategic and commercial advice, including project financing structures, innovative procurement models, and risk management strategies for some of the largest and most challenging infrastructure and energy developments.
Jamie Ng, Ashurst’s global head of risk advisory and global clients and markets partner, described Houghton’s appointment as a significant milestone for the firm, highlighting the depth of expertise and leadership he brings to the role.
