National law firm Thomson Geer has appointed a tax, trust, and private client specialist from big four firm EY as a new partner in its tax practice.
Aimee Riley (pictured) has rejoined Thomson Geer after almost a decade working as a senior tax, wealth management, and trust law adviser for leading international professional services firm EY.
At EY, Riley led the big four firm’s private law team, advising high-net-worth individuals and large private corporate groups on sophisticated private wealth matters, estate and succession planning, trust structures, asset protection, complex tax strategies, and related corporate and commercial arrangements.
Thomson Geer chief executive partner Adrian Tembel said that Riley’s return strengthens the firm’s tax capabilities.
“Aimee brings deep technical expertise in private wealth and trust law, paired with a thoughtful and client-centred approach,” he said.
“We are delighted to welcome her back as partner and look forward to supporting her continued development as a first-class tax professional.”
Riley said that she is optimistic about future opportunities for the firm’s tax practice and is pleased to be returning to the fold.
“My approach is grounded in trust and transparency,” she said.
“By forming genuine partnerships with clients, we can deliver results that create long-term value across generations and contribute meaningfully to our broader community.”
The news follows the firm’s appointment of a health and safety partner from Holding Redlich earlier this month, its appointment of a partner and special counsel to its banking and finance practice at the start of October, the acquisition of a 17-person employment law team from Holding Redlich at the end of June, and the promotion of 55 lawyers to more senior roles in the same month.
Thomson Geer has over 800 staff nationally, including more than 155 partners, across its offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, and Canberra.
