After almost a decade at Clayton Utz, partner Peter Feros has been hired to lead Johnson Winter Slattery’s six-partner tax group.

Commenting on the appointment, managing partner Jeremy Davis said Feros is a “well-respected, market-leading lawyer” who will “entrench our reputation as a go-to firm for high-quality tax work”.

Feros specialises in front-end strategic income tax advice to listed Australian and foreign corporates and domestic and foreign funds, in addition to his expertise in M&A and fund structuring.

His expertise spans across mining, professional services, property, technology, and financial services sectors, and his clients come from a broad range of private equity, hedge funds and property funds.

He has also provided tax advice in insolvency-related situations, having advised companies, administrators and creditors.

Feros said he was delighted to join Johnson Winter Slattery.

“It is a team which is renowned for providing commercial and strategic advice which is clear and technically outstanding.

“The team is also renowned for providing confidence to clients to help them make informed decisions on their most complex business issues.

“I am very much aligned with the way the JWS tax team operates, and I see a wonderful opportunity for us to work together to cement the team’s reputation as one of the pre-eminent tax practices in the country,” Feros said.
