Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has appointed a new country head Down Under, who will take the reins next month.
Marshall Bromwich (pictured) is set to head NRF in Australia, taking over the position of country head from Alison Deitz, who served two successive three-year terms from 2020.
Bromwich is the firm’s corporate team leader and head of consumer markets in Australia, as well as leading its Asia-Pacific corporate strategic initiative. In a statement, NRF noted that he will continue to run his corporate practice alongside his new country head role.
He will be supported in his new position by David Willimott, the firm’s chief financial officer, who will step into an expanded role as chief operating officer.
Deitz, the firm said, has “made a substantial contribution” to NRF, with her stewardship being “instrumental” in fully integrating the Australia and EMEA regions to create an integrated Europe, Middle East and Asia-Pacific (EMEAPAC) practice in mid-2025.
The news follows the firm’s appointment of six new partners in Australia in December, in a global cohort of 51.
NRF’s global revenue in 2025 was US$2.8 billion (16 per cent year-on-year growth), with profit per equity partner reaching US$2 million in 2025 (27 per cent increase). The firm’s EMEAPAC region is now a US$1.1 billion business, with double-digit growth across the region, and Australia making a strong contribution to that, the firm said.
Speaking about the appointment, NRF’s managing partner in EMEAPAC, Peter Scott, said: “I look forward to working with Marshall as we build on the success of last year’s EMEAPAC integration and continue to grow profitably in Australia and across the wider Asia-Pacific region.
“Marshall brings a wealth of experience from his time leading our Australian corporate and consumer markets practices, and his appointment strongly supports our APAC strategy, ensuring we are aligned to our clients’ evolving needs and are well positioned to deliver seamless, cross-border support across the region. Alison’s leadership and contribution to the firm have been substantial, and I would like to thank her for the lasting impact she has made, as well as her continued support through this transition.”
Deitz said: “It has been a privilege to have led Norton Rose Fulbright’s Australia business over the past six years and to have overseen a period of substantial revenue and profit growth during that time. I am also proud to have helped usher in the successful integration of our Australia and EMEA businesses for the benefit of future generations and for our clients.
“Marshall is the right person to lead the Australian practice into its next phase as part of EMEAPAC, and I look forward to working with him through the transition.”
Bromwich said: “I am excited to be taking on the role of Australia country head at this important time of growth for the firm.
“The integration of our Australia and EMEA businesses has created a strong platform for future success, and our clients and people are already experiencing the benefits. I look forward to working closely with our partners and teams to continue delivering exceptional outcomes for our clients across the EMEAPAC region.”
