The organisation recently announced the appointment of Catherine Maxwell (pictured) to senior position.

Ms Maxwell has a strong background in law, governance and policy. She has held similar roles at the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority, the Australian Payments Clearing Association, the Australian Institute of Company Directors, the Australian Stock Exchange and the Financial Services Council.

“In addition, Catherine has considerable experience as a company secretary and a longstanding involvement with Governance Institute, including as a Fellow, a Course Director in the Corporate Governance subject and as a presenter for short courses and in-house training,” said Governance Institute chief executive Steven Burrell.

Ms Maxwell has worked as company secretary for the Cancer Council NSW and Youth Off the Streets.

“Catherine has a strong record in delivering a range of policy, business and change management projects and is a valuable addition to the Governance Institute team. She is particularly well-placed to prosecute our policy and advocacy agenda,” Mr Burrell said.

The Governance Institute is an independent professional association that promotes organisational governance.
