Jaella Parker (pictured) has been appointed as the new chief legal counsel for the City of Moreton Bay. She commenced in the role today (13 January).

She brings a “wealth of experience”, the city said in a statement, having most recently served as chief transformation officer at Deloitte. While at the big four firm, she also served as chief operating officer and associate general counsel.

Prior to this, she was a senior lawyer at BigLaw firm Hall & Wilcox.

The appointment comes at an exciting time of growth for the City of Moreton Bay, “as it prepares to grow to 1 million people”, the statement read.

“This is an exciting opportunity at a pivotal point in time for [the] City of Moreton Bay,” Parker said.

“I’ve done my best to choose roles within organisations that have a progressive vision and are at the forefront of doing good things – whether that be at a business or community level.

“The leadership team at City of Moreton Bay has a track record of doing just that, and as we race towards the Brisbane 2032 Olympics and Paralympics, I’m excited for what the future holds.”

City of Moreton Bay chief executive Scott Waters said he was thrilled to have Parker onboard.

“Jaella brings a wealth of experience in providing business-driven legal advice, developing legal strategy, risk management, and business transformation,” he said.

“Throughout her career, she has helped navigate complexity, negotiate outcomes, enable growth, and bring business objectives to life. She enjoys working collaboratively to help deliver value for stakeholders.

“We look forward to working with Jaella and welcoming her to [the] council.”
