Australian AI infrastructure company Firmus Technologies has strengthened its leadership team, appointing Viva Energy Australia chief strategy officer Lachlan Pfeiffer as its new general counsel and company secretary.
Lachlan Pfeiffer (pictured) has been appointed general counsel and company secretary at Firmus Technologies (Firmus), joining the AI infrastructure company’s executive leadership team on 10 August 2026.
In a statement, the organisation said the appointment comes as it accelerates the expansion of its AI infrastructure operations across Australia and the broader Asia-Pacific region, amid surging demand for AI infrastructure and continued growth across the sector.
Prior to joining Firmus Technologies, Pfeiffer spent nearly 12 years at Viva Energy Australia, where he most recently served as chief strategy officer, a role he held for more than two years.
Pfeiffer brings deep legal, governance, regulatory and commercial expertise, with a proven track record of advising on major infrastructure, energy and corporate transactions while guiding executive teams and boards through complex commercial and risk matters.
His expertise extends far beyond the legal function, spanning corporate strategy, business development, investor relations, sustainability, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, and government relations.
Pfeiffer will take over from Ben Webb as general counsel and company secretary, with Webb remaining at Firmus until the end of 2026 to ensure a smooth transition and provide ongoing support across the company’s operations.
Oliver Curtis, co-CEO of Firmus, said the appointment comes at a pivotal time for the business as it sharpens its focus on governance, risk management and stakeholder relationships to support its next phase of growth.
“Strong governance, disciplined risk management and trusted stakeholder relationships are critical priorities for Firmus as we continue to scale,” Curtis said.
“We are delighted to welcome Lachlan to Firmus and look forward to the contribution he will make across our business. We also thank Ben for his significant contribution to Firmus and for his continued leadership and support through the transition.”
