Global tech-enabled legal services provider Consilio has acquired Australian e-discovery provider icourts, strengthening the former’s foothold in the Australian market.
Consilio has today (Tuesday, 1 September) announced its acquisition of icourts, which offers end-to-end electronic evidence management for law firms, corporate legal departments, and government organisations. The acquisition, the global leader in technology-enabled legal services said, follows the integration of elaw and the establishment of dedicated data centres in Sydney and Melbourne, and also builds on its ongoing investment in the Australian market.
The news follows the unveiling of a partnership between Wordsmith and Consilio company Lawyers on Demand in June to deliver AI-enabled managed services to in-house legal teams. It also follows the launch of Consilio’s Aurora Legal AI suite in Australia in April and its combination with Claude the following month.
As a result of the acquisition, icourts’ clients will gain access to Consilio’s broader technology, team, and delivery resources in Australia across complex legal, regulatory, and investigative matters.
As organisations navigate increasing complexity, Consilio outlined in a statement, “they are seeking trusted partners with local expertise, global scale and specialist capability to support them across every stage of their legal life cycle, from domestic matters through to complex cross-border matters”. The acquisition of icourts, the provider said, “further strengthens its ability to meet that need”.
Moreover, by bringing icourts’ offerings across the e-discovery life cycle into Consilio’s operations as the world’s largest AI legal data technology provider, clients of both companies gain expanded local expertise and resources spanning forensic technology, e-discovery, evidence management, e-courts, and technology development solutions. It also strengthens Consilio’s regional capabilities in supporting complex royal commissions and large-scale investigations, building on icourts’ longstanding experience delivering secure, technology-enabled evidence management for some of Australia’s most significant matters.
Joining Consilio, icourts founder and chief executive Rebecca Grant said, “marks an exciting new chapter” for the provider’s team and its clients.

The acquisition, Consilio’s APAC and EMEA managing director Drew Macaulay added, reflects the global provider’s confidence in the Australian market and adds further scale and broader capabilities to its business Down Under.
