Adelaide and Hong-Kong based firm Lipman Karas has appointed Amanda Engels as special counsel.
Engels joins the firm from Mallesons Stephen Jaques where she was a senior associate, bringing a decade of experience advising on complex disputes in Australia and the United Kingdom.
Engels has represented public companies, private clients and regulators in complex contractual, insolvency related and trade practices disputes.
She has also advised clients in relation to investigations, regulatory disputes and class action defences.
After graduating from Adelaide University, Engels accepted a two-year scholarship to undertake a Bachelor of Civil Law and a Master of Philosophy in Law at Oxford University.
Prior to her stint at Mallesons, Engels worked as a solicitor at the Home Office in London where she managed actions taken in the European Court of Human Rights.
