Corrs Chambers Westgarth has appointed banking and finance specialist Clare Corke as a partner in its Melbourne office.

Corke was previously a lawyer at Blake Dawson and, prior to that, a director in the banking and finance department of South African law firm Deneys Reitz in Johannesburg (which now forms part of the Norton Rose Group).

Corke has advised on a wide range of banking and financing transactions over the past 14 years, including major projects and infrastructure, resource finance, asset acquisition, leveraged finance transactions and syndicated debt.

Her clients have included Royal Bank of Scotland, ANZ Banking Group, Commonwealth Bank Australia, China MinMetals, Plenary and HSBC.

Corke is the sixth partner appointed to Corrs' banking and finance practice from a top-tier firm in the past year

The other recruits were Shaun McGushin and Rommel Harding-Farrenberg (Freehills), Jeremy King (Blake Dawson), and Brad Robinson and Henry Self (Mallesons).
