Gadens Lawyers has appointed tax law specialist Damian O'Connor in Brisbane.

O'Connor joins Gadens from HopgoodGanim as a partner in the corporate advisory practice.

O'Connor has 30 years experience advising on tax issues in the mining, energy, engineering, financial services, and property sectors, including 20 years with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).

"The tax landscape for energy and resources companies is continually changing. The Minerals Resource Rent Tax and the Carbon Pricing Mechanism are areas of particular interest to our resources clients and Damian's industry expertise is particularly helpful to them in responding to these challenges," said Gadens Brisbane chairman Paul Spiro.

O'Connor previously worked for Nicol Robinson Halletts as a special counsel, and for McCullough Robertson as a senior associate.
