Lawyers have a ball

Members of Queensland’s legal profession will take their wigs off and let their hair down at the Queensland Law Society Ball next week.

Members of Queensland’s legal profession will take their wigs off and let their hair at the Queensland Law Society Ball next week.

The ball will cap off Law Week 2012.

It will take place on 18 May and will conclude a week of criminal history tours, a performance of A Man for All Seasons, starring judges, barristers and other legal practitioners (including an appearance from Law Society president John de Groot), as well as the traditional Walk for Justice on 15 May.

Starting at dawn, the Walk for Justice aims to highlight the importance of pro bono legal services and the volunteer solicitors who provide these services.

Revealing the “dark side” of Brisbane’s past, the Law Society’s criminal history tours will take place on 14, 16 and 17 May and will cover significant criminal and legal affairs from the last 160 years.
