Mallesons Stephen Jaques has pledged $100,000 to support mental health charity SANE Australia and its 24 hour helpline.

Mallesons has supported the helpline since 2007, helping it to operate 24 hours a day and meet several significant milestones, including producing an online helpline service, increasing awareness of the service and producing a pioneering SANE research bulletin series.

"We are proud to continue our ongoing support of SANE Australia and we hope this donation will ensure that SANE can continue to provide the high quality and invaluable service to persons affected by mental illness through their helpline," said Mallesons' chief executive partner Robert Milliner.

Now in its twelfth year of operation, the national helpline has seen more and more people seeking advice in relation to mental illness or suicide over the last 12 months and an increasing number of contacts are coming from workplaces.

"We've witnessed a growth in workplace-related enquiries - from both employers and employees. Employers, for example, are wanting to know more about how to support employees who may be developing or who have a mental illness, while consumers are seeking advice about disclosing their illness to employers," said executive director of SANE, Barbara Hocking.
