MANAGING DIRECTOR and CEO of St George Bank, Gail Kelly, urged professional women not to shy away from a high profile career solely because of family obligations.

Speaking at the first women in business forum hosted by Western Sydney firm Coleman & Greig, Kelly offered the benefits of her experience and practical lessons to a gathering of the region’s business people.

“[Her] message was relevant to business people from any industry or management function,” Amanda Parkin, the host firm’s family law partner, said. “But to be able to hear that presentation locally, without having to travel in to the CBD, was a real plus.”

Parkin hopes that the ongoing forum, a series of breakfast presentations to be held throughout the year, will offer significant assistance to professional women.

“Having a credible and professional support network in the greater western Sydney region will be a huge benefit to businesswomen in the area,” she said.
