Gilchrist Connell has welcomed the commencement of a new D&O and financial institutions expert, who has joined the Sydney office as principal.
Daniel Robinson was previously a senior associate at Clyde and Co. He brings to his new role essential skills and an “excellent reputation” to substantially boost the firm’s capacity in complex D&O coverage and defence as well as financial lines E&O, according to a statement by Gilchrist Connell.
“We are always looking for highly skilled experts to assist us in meeting client demand in specialist areas,” said managing principal Richard Wood.
“Dan has exactly the skills we were seeking, was recommended to us by trusted clients, and is a great fit for our culture. We’re very happy that Dan chose us as his destination.”
Mr Robinson’s experience includes acting for insurers in large-scale, complex litigation including multiple major class actions. According to Gilchrist Connell, his pragmatic and commercially astute approach has earned him national industry recognition, stellar career progression and strong client support, within both the domestic and London markets.
Mr Robinson has also conducted a number of policy wording reviews for clients on their first-party property and business interruption products and acted in defence of insured directors and officers, and various professionals.
In addition, he was crowned a recipient of the 2016 Lawyers Weekly 30 under 30 Awards for the insurance category.
Mr Robinson commented on his appointment, “I’m delighted to be joining a firm with such a strong reputation with my clients and the insurance market more broadly.
“I believe the firm is perfectly placed to capitalise on opportunities in the legal services market for insurers and reinsurers, and I very much look forward to working with the Gilchrist Connell team to provide first-class service to my clients going forward,” he said.
