Deal: Global firm White & Case has advised First Sentier Investors (FSI) on its acquisition of John Laing’s Australian wind farm renewable portfolio, including John Laing’s stake in the Cherry Tree and Kiata wind farms in Victoria, Hornsdale wind farm in South Australia and the Granville Harbour wind farm in Tasmania.

Key players: The team was led by partners Nirangjan Nagarajah and Joel Rennie, with support from partners Joanne Draper, Michelle Keen and Adeline Pang. They were also assisted by associates Tiffany Leach, Jessie Huynh, Danielle Ingham and Kian Newlyn. 

Deal significance: Mr Nagarajah said the acquisition in a competitive process involved a number of bidders demonstrating strong demand for quality Australian renewable assets. 

“The transaction involves one of the largest Australian operating renewable energy portfolios ever brought to market, with a total capacity of approximately 517MW across four geographically diverse assets,” Mr Rennie added.
