LEONIE PAULSON has been appointed as a consultant at Sparke Helmore, and will head up the firm’s growing mining and resources team in Adelaide.

Paulson has more than 15 years’ experience advising a wide range of clients on commercial, environmental and water issues for public infrastructure operators in the manufacturing and energy sectors.

Paulson joins the firm from Thomson Playford, but also has experience at the South Australian Crown Solicitor’s Office where she played a major role in the commencement of the South Australian Environment Protection Act 1993 and drafted subordinate legislation linking new planning and environmental law.

Sparke Helmore’s local managing partner, Michael Dwyer, expects there will be continued strong growth in the mining and resources industry in Adelaide.

“With 25 new mines opening in South Australia over the next five years, associated infrastructure development and economic activity is already evident,” he said.
