THE MELBOURNE shipping and transport group of Holman Fenwick & Willan has welcomed Peter Leslie as partner.

He joins the four founding partners in the firm’s Australian office, which opened in March last year, after working for Middletons in Melbourne. Leslie specialises in seafarers’ personal injury claims, dust disease and public liability litigation.

“[Leslie] is a great addition to our team. He is widely recognised as one of Australia’s leading lawyers in respect of seafarers’ injury claims and he has for many years been involved in the defence of claims arising from exposure to asbestos,” Gavin Valley, head of the Melbourne office, said.

“His joining will also increase the Melbourne office’s insurance capacity generally in line with the scope of services provided by our London and Asian offices.”

Holman Fenwick & Willan is an international law firm well known in the shipping, international trade, energy, insurance and reinsurance sectors.

“I am delighted to join Holman Fenwick & Willan and am excited at the opportunity to provide additional services to the firm’s clients,” Leslie said.

“I have previously worked with three of the founding partners of the Melbourne office and my move was therefore a logical one given the firm’s prominence in the marine sector and has been strongly supported by my clients.”
