Sonia Chandra has been elevated to a partner within Danny King Legal (DKL), while Savanna Russo has been promoted to associate.

Ms Chandra joined DKL a year ago after departing the Australian and International Pilots Association, where she was head of legal. Prior to this, Ms Chandra was legal counsel for Hays Recruitment Specialists.

Throughout her career, Ms Chandra has played a key role in leading a team of lawyers in a “multifaceted, fast-paced environment”, working across both Australia and New Zealand, a statement from DKL said.

Meanwhile, Ms Russo joined DKL in 2016 as part of the firm’s paralegal team. She became head paralegal in 2018 and worked as a senior analyst and graduate before her admission in 2021.

According to DKL’s statement, Ms Russo continues to be heavily involved in the firm’s contracts process, has expertise in Fair Work Commission applications, and assists in litigation in the Federal Court, Federal Circuit Court, and Supreme Court.

DKL principal Danny King said the appointments of Ms Chandra and Ms Russo reflect their professional development and ability to deliver superior client outcomes.

“Sonia and Savanna are both integral to our firms’ offering, being able to bring a specialist legal capability as well as a human element to the most complex client issues, and I congratulate them both on their invaluable contributions,” she said.

“As the next generation of the firm’s leaders, Sonia’s litigation experience, people-first approach to client circumstances, and mentoring are essential to our growth. Savanna’s knowledge of the firm and its client base, combined with legal expertise puts her in good stead to take on this more senior role.”
