Celia Wright has been appointed the newest principal at Gilchrist Connell, bringing with her a 20-year background in D&O and professional indemnity matters.
Throughout her career, Ms Wright has represented corporate entities, directors and officers in disputes, litigation, regulatory investigations and royal commissions, including the Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry.
In addition, she has acted for accountants, trustees, fund managers, architects, mortgage brokers and solicitors (amongst others) in civil litigation and disciplinary matters.
Richard Wood, managing principal at Gilchrist Connell, said he was delighted to welcome Ms Wright to the firm.
“Celia’s appointment to our PI and D&O practice supports our commitment to provide strategic and commercial advice to clients in this key area of demand,” he said.
“Celia is a seasoned practitioner, and we are very pleased to have her on board.”
The appointment of Ms Wright comes as the firm marked a partnership split of 40 per cent female to 60 per cent male as at the new financial year.
On her appointment, Ms Wright said: “I am thrilled by this opportunity to join the Gilchrist Connell team and continue the expansion of its excellent D&O and PI practice.
“It is a very exciting time to join the firm.”

Emma Musgrave (née Ryan) is the managing editor, professional services at Momentum Media.
Emma has worked for Momentum Media since 2015, including five years spent as the editor of the company's legal brand - Lawyers Weekly. Throughout her time at Momentum, she has been responsible for breaking some of the biggest stories in corporate Australia. In addition, she has produced exclusive multimedia and event content related to the company's respective brands and audiences.
Prior to joining Momentum Media, Emma worked in breakfast radio, delivering news to the Central West region of NSW, before taking on a radio journalist role at Southern Cross Austereo, based in Townsville, North Queensland.
She holds a Bachelor of Communications (Journalism) degree from Charles Sturt University.
