Aspect Legal has appointed Alan Prasad as special counsel to strengthen the firm’s “expertise in mergers and acquisitions and commercial law”.

The Sydney-based firm has declared that Mr Prasad will “bring a wealth of local and international experience” as he has worked with clients and businesses in Australia, the UK, New Zealand, and south Pacific nations.

Mr Prasad graduated from the University of Tasmania with a bachelor of laws and then attained a graduate diploma in legal practice at the Australian National University.

With over 24 years of experience as a commercial lawyer, he has held various titles at different firms. This includes solicitor to senior associate levels at several legal firms globally and internationally, partner and group principal at Nexus Law Group, and principal lawyer and portfolio member at Arch Law Australia.

Mr Prasad is also a passionate and successful businessman. The firm revealed that he has “successfully started, acquired, and sold businesses of his own in various industries, including FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods), education and professional services”.

From this experience, the firm proclaimed Mr Pasad “has a deep understanding of complex transactions (including cross-border deals and global operations)”.

The firm stated: “The move comes after a period of strong growth for the firm, with former Allens head of due diligence Robyn Hanney and senior associate Alexandra Carter joining the firm in 2023.”

The managing partner of Aspect Legal, Joanna Oakey, commented: “We are thrilled to have Alan Prasad join our team, his vast experience in business sales, acquisitions, and start-ups, coupled with his broad commercial legal expertise, makes him an incredible asset to the firm, our clients and our referral partners.

“With his tech-forward approach and innovative mindset, I have no doubt he will amplify what our award-winning team is achieving.

“Alan is a perfect strategic fit for Aspect Legal. Our mission to make high-quality legal advice practical and commercially viable for small and mid-market business owners across Australia is well and truly underway with Alan’s legal expertise and hands-on commercial experience,” said Ms Oakey.

Excited about joining the firm, Mr Prasad stated: “Aspect Legal is truly an innovative law firm that has built itself into the heart of the Australian SME market and has strong plans for growth.

“With systems and processes, resources and a team that genuinely streamlines the work of lawyers and the advisors we’re working alongside – I very much look forward to joining their team.

“This strong culture of innovation, industry-wide recognition as an award-winning law firm and a true specialisation in mergers and acquisitions made my decision to join them easy.”
