With over seven years of experience in dispute resolution and litigation, Christopher Fahmy (pictured) has launched his own Sydney-based firm, GopherWood Lawyers, specialising in these areas.

Prior to founding the firm, Fahmy built his career at prominent international law firms, serving as a senior associate at Wotton Kearney and Kennedys and as an associate at Clyde & Co.

Throughout his extensive experience in commercial and insurance litigation, Fahmy has represented clients in major regulatory matters, royal commissions, and complex disputes across financial services and construction sectors.

GopherWood Lawyers will focus on dispute resolution and litigation across several key areas, including building and construction, debt recovery, commercial disputes, and financial and insurance-related matters.

In a statement, the boutique firm shared that it plans to enter the Australian legal landscape with a focus on bringing a structured and strategic approach to complex litigation matters.

Speaking to Lawyers Weekly, Fahmy explained that the firm’s name reflects both personal and professional meaning, drawing inspiration from his son Noah and the symbolic strength of gopher wood, the material used in Noah’s Ark.

“The concept of gopher wood represents thoughtful design, preparation and strength. Those same principles shape how we approach our litigation practice – with structure, strategy and purpose,” Fahmy said.

“Clients today want precision, transparency and results. Our role is to protect their rights and their bottom line.”

Looking ahead, GopherWood Lawyers shared that it intends to deliver outcomes that are both strategically and commercially informed, while helping clients resolve disputes efficiently and protect their business interests.
