Australian personal injury firm Law Partners has expanded its presence in NSW by acquiring Catherine Henry Lawyers.
Law Partners has entered an agreement to acquire Newcastle-based Catherine Henry Lawyers (CHL), describing the move as part of its ongoing effort to broaden access to personal injury services across NSW and nationwide.
The acquisition, which will take effect from today (27 January), will see the CHL team and practice transition into Law Partners.
The Australian personal injury law firm shared that combining the two teams under one name will strengthen its capabilities, expand its regional footprint, and support its long-term growth strategy.
Both firms have indicated that their clients can expect “minimal disruption to service” as this acquisition takes effect, stating that “the continuity of their claims and high levels of service treated as a priority”.
Founded in 2009, CHL has built a practice representing clients in medical negligence and institutional abuse matters across regional NSW, spanning the Hunter region, Newcastle, and the broader NSW east coast.
CHL founder and principal Catherine Henry will remain in a senior leadership position within Law Partners’ health law and medical negligence team, with her current team continuing to report to her.
Shane Butcher, partner at Law Partners, said the acquisition will give the firm a stronger foothold in regional NSW, allowing it to extend its reach and better support Australians navigating complex medical negligence claims.
“Catherine Henry Lawyers has earned an exceptional reputation over many years, particularly for its work in medical negligence,” Butcher stated.
“This acquisition brings together two teams with a shared commitment to client advocacy and legal excellence.”
“Strengthening our presence in Newcastle and the Hunter region means we can support even more Australians who are seeking help with what can be very complex medical negligence claims.”
Henry shared how the move to join Law Partners reflected the alignment of values between the firms and a desire to provide her staff with the opportunity to continue thriving.
“Law Partners shares our dedication to compassionate, high-quality legal representation, and the joining of our two firms is an excellent outcome for our clients,” Henry noted.
“It also ensures our dedicated staff will continue to thrive, while strengthening our ability to deliver for communities across Newcastle, the Hunter region, and the NSW east coast.”
“I couldn’t be happier with the strong alignment between our practices and our combined ability to support clients through complex medical malpractice, health regulatory and professional negligence matters.”
