Ella Cannon (pictured) has joined CIE Legal’s partnership, in what the SME law firm described as a “strategic investment” to bolster its commercial, privacy and regulatory capabilities, with a particular focus on the digital health sector.

Her appointment expands CIE Legal’s partnership to nine members, reinforcing the firm’s capacity to advise clients navigating complex, data-rich and highly regulated environments.

Before joining the consumer products law firm, Cannon spent a decade at NewLaw firm Hive Legal, most recently serving as principal, a role she held for four years.

Cannon is a commercial, privacy and regulatory lawyer with more than a decade of experience advising organisations across the technology and health sectors.

Her practice spans complex commercial contracting, supply and procurement, privacy and data protection, as well as regulatory matters, with a particular emphasis on digital health providers and high-growth technology platforms operating in highly regulated environments.

Peter George, managing partner at CIE Legal, welcomed Cannon to the partnership, noting that her extensive experience in commercial and regulatory matters would strengthen and add depth to the firm’s existing capabilities.

“We are thrilled to welcome Ella to the partnership,” George said.

“Ella is exceptionally talented and values-driven. She brings a rare combination of commercial depth, privacy expertise and digital health regulatory insight. She is a natural fit for our clients and our culture, and we can’t wait to start working together.”

Speaking about her new role, Cannon expressed how she was drawn to the firm’s collaborative culture and its approach to client service, particularly its work with organisations managing complex data and regulatory challenges.

“CIE Legal’s growth mindset, collaborative culture and deep commitment to client service really resonated with me,” Cannon said.

“I’m excited by the opportunity to expand the firm’s commercial and privacy capabilities, and support clients working at the intersection of technology, health and innovation.”
