Most lawyers become lawyers because the work means something to them.
We know this because prior to founding Parachute in early 2026, the majority of our team were lawyers themselves. We’re all too familiar with the initial excitement, and then eventual disappointment, that can go hand-in-hand with being a lawyer.
There's a moment when the work around the work begins to take over.
Days become filled with copying and pasting, searching through documents, formatting drafts, taking notes, replying to emails and managing hundreds of open tabs. Before long, that work begins filling the evenings too.
And somewhere along the way, many lawyers fall out of love with practising law. At Parachute, we’re here to catch them.
Why small and medium firms need to break up with enterprise tools
When running our own law firm, we realised that there are a number of great legal AI platforms that have been built to address this very problem. The only issue is that they’re made for the way BigLaw operates.
The economics are understandable. A small number of enterprise accounts can generate more revenue than hundreds of smaller ones. But that leaves behind the majority of Australian legal practices: the one-to-200-person firms handling conveyancing, corporate transactions, commercial work, family law and employment matters across the country.
From running one of these ourselves, we know that these firms are not simply smaller versions of BigLaw. They operate differently.
So we built the platform we had been looking for. A legal AI with capabilities around how one-to-200-person firms actually practise law.
Our pricing is designed around the realities of these firms. They shouldn’t need an enterprise-sized technology budget, a lengthy procurement process or a dedicated IT team to access secure, high-quality AI. By spreading the cost of infrastructure and ongoing development across our customer base, we can give firms access to sophisticated tools at a fraction of the price of enterprise platforms.
How Parachute is different
Parachute helps lawyers work faster by handling the parts of the workflow that don’t need a lawyer, including drafting, research, formatting, emails and note-taking.
It works from a firm’s own precedents, templates, policies and internal documents, producing work that reflects how the firm thinks and writes. Lawyers can bring emails, documents and notes into a single conversation, with every answer linked to a clickable source so the reasoning can be checked.
Parachute can turn a prompt into a structured first draft, apply the firm’s formatting and letterhead, and prepare it for review and export. It also connects with Gmail and Outlook, allowing lawyers to draft, refine and send emails without leaving the platform. Depending on the task, they can choose from Paralegal, Lawyer or Senior Associate mode to get the right level of support.
When it comes to meeting notes, a large firm may have associates, paralegals and clerks to manage the administrative work around client meetings. A five-partner practice may not. Parachute can join Zoom, Teams or Google Meet, capture the discussion, decisions and next steps, and connect them with the relevant matter history. Its desktop application can also take notes during in-person meetings - another thing that lawyers love.
Firms can also invite clients into Parachute for their everyday legal needs while remaining their trusted legal partner.
By bringing all of this into one connected workspace, Parachute reduces friction, says goodbye to open tabs and gives lawyers back time and headspace for the work they actually trained to do.
How much time do lawyers get back with Parachute?
Parachute gives lawyers an average of 8.2 hours back each week.
