South Australia-based law firm Mellor Olsson has welcomed an experienced intellectual property and technology lawyer to its partnership.
Evyenia Walton has joined Mellor Olsson as a partner in its commercial law team, bringing more than two decades of legal experience in the profession.
Previously, Walton served as a partner at Lynch Meyer Lawyers, following a tenure at DW Fox Tucker Lawyers and Intrepret Legal, where she was the managing director.
In her experience, Walton has advised family businesses, not-for-profit organisations, business owners, boards, executives, technology companies, and higher education institutions on corporate, commercial, intellectual property, and technology matters.
Particularly, her expertise consists of mergers and acquisitions, governance, commercial contracting, shareholder arrangements, intellectual property commercialisation, technology transactions, business structuring, trust structures, and business succession planning.
In addition to her core transactional practice, she acts as a strategic adviser to entities navigating innovation, growth, and operational change.
Walton is widely recognised for her work in research commercialisation, technology, and intellectual property, assisting clients in bringing products to market while maximising asset value.
Furthermore, her practice extends to emerging governance and legal challenges associated with privacy, data protection, cyber security, and artificial intelligence.
She currently serves as chair of the Law Society of South Australia’s artificial intelligence and data privacy committee.
Speaking on the appointment, Mellor Olsson’s CEO, Cameron Thomson, highlighted that Walton bolsters the firm’s commercial law capability.

The appointment of Walton comes after the firm recently promoted commercial lawyer Jordan Richards to senior associate, after joining the firm as a solicitor in 2021.
