National firm Hicksons | Hunt & Hunt | Holman Webb has added three specialist construction lawyers from global rival Norton Rose Fulbright, building on the firm’s growing construction and property practice.
Three former Norton Rose Fulbright (NRF) construction lawyers have joined Hicksons | Hunt & Hunt | Holman Webb, who bring more than 70 years of collective experience.
David McElveney, Glen Warwick, and Chloe Blackwell will combine their top-tier expertise with the technology available at the firm to deliver timely and cost-effective service to clients.
The team has worked together across both Clyde & Co and several stints at NRF, where Warwick and McElveney both served as partners and Blackwell as a special counsel and a senior associate at Clyde & Co.
In their most recent tenure at NRF, the team advised clients across the building, infrastructure, energy, and resources sectors.
Speaking on behalf of the team’s move to the firm, McElveney said that it is the perfect size for providing more agility and better value for clients, with the firm’s use of technology and AI being enticing factors for the move to the firm, which merged last year.
“We are seeing the disruption of the large law firm model, which has relied on deploying teams of time-charging lawyers to undertake largely mechanical tasks,” McElveney said.
“Those tasks can now be undertaken by technology, more quickly and cheaply.
“But you still need the guidance of specialist senior lawyers, and that is what will set good law firms apart.
“What sophisticated clients will increasingly be looking for in their lawyers is true depth of experience and legal expertise, strategic advice, and wise counsel.

The firm’s managing partner, Cameron Leaver, noted that the appointment of the experienced trio reinforces the commitment to strengthening its capabilities across the building and housing sectors.

McElveney commenced as a partner in July, with Warwick and Blackwell joining last week.
The team will work across Australia, with McElveney and Warwick based in Sydney and Blackwell in Perth.
