A boutique law firm has relaunched its brand under a new name, marking a new chapter for the Australia-based practice.

National commercial law firm, previously known as SLF Lawyers, has changed its branding to Eventus Lawyers, commencing a new chapter for the firm based in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, and the Gold Coast.

A Latin term, the name Eventus means “outcome”, with the firm reflecting that the principle has guided its practice since its founding: “The only outcome worth pursuing for a client is a successful one.”

The corporate rebranding is accompanied by the unveiling of an updated digital platform, alongside the practice’s transition to the LEAP management system.

Eventus Lawyers’ expertise centres on commercial litigation, complemented by specialised offerings across insolvency and restructuring, insurance, property, employment, taxation, family law, and estate planning.

The practice advises individuals, businesses, government bodies, and multinational companies on a range of mundane to complex legal matters.

Representatives from the firm have previously alluded to global cases, such as Amazon’s layoff of 16,000 employees earlier this year, which underscored the need for employers to carefully manage consultation, genuine redundancy, and lawful dismissal obligations.

Speaking on the rebrand, managing partner Melissa Patterson, a 2025 Lawyers Weekly Women in Law Mentor of the Year award winner, recognised that it ultimately captures who the firm has become as a whole.

“We have grown into a national firm, and our name needed to reflect that,” Patterson said.

“Eventus says exactly what we stand for, every client comes to us wanting a result, and everything we do is built around achieving the best possible outcome for them.”

It’s not the first time a boutique firm has undergone a major rebrand recently, marking another significant step in the revolution of company overhauls, with WLW Migration Lawyers rebranding to Kinda Migration Lawyers.

Patterson highlighted that while the clients would notice the new name, little else would change.

“Same people, same partners, same commitment,” Patterson said.

“Our clients will continue to work with the teams they know and trust.

“What has changed is that our brand now says out loud what we have always believed.”
